Lum PTA Food Drive Success

Thanks to the many Lum families who donated to the Food Drive, Lum collected 268 pounds for the Alameda County Community Food Bank!  That’s 34% more than last year — the generosity of the Lum community is amazing!

FIRE UP YOUR FEET Spring Challenge through May 15

Let’s get active Lum Bears!  Fire Up Your Feet is a great national program that encourages families to maintain healthy lifestyles with physical activity.  From April 15-May 15, all Lum students, staff, and their families (parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles) can register ANY and ALL physical activity at, and Lum will be in the running for a $5,000 award!!  During the past year, Lum has been awarded nearly $3000 through this program!  Think of all the possiblities–walking/biking to and from school, exercise classes, the gym, afterschool activities for the kids, sports teams, family hikes, playing in the backyard, and so much more!  Email for more info. Volunteers will be tracking our students’ activity during school hours (recess, PE, etc) but all activity outside of school can be tracked by YOU!

Coffee with the Principal

One last Coffee with the Principal is happening Friday April 14 at 8:30 am in the MPR.  Join PTA for a fun morning with Alameda’s best principal!!
